How did you get into fitness?
It’s a long story, however, a long time ago I was a student in a boot camp class. I was young, overweight, and trying to do better. Over time, I noticed my fitness instructor at the time was a lot tougher on me compared to the other students. I didn’t understand why and one day during class, he started raising his voice at me about being an example, getting out of my comfort zone, and doing what he taught me to do. After class one day, he explained to me that I no longer needed him and he taught me everything that he knew and it was time for me to step up. From that day on I became the class instructor and continued to train and instruct ever since.
Two days later…we were waiting for his arrival to start the class but since he was always late we decided to start the warm up without him. I put on the music and we all taught the class and completed an hour workout. No one thought anything of it.
A few days later, I was sitting on the floor waiting for our instructor to show up. But he was late as usual. As time passed by, I heard a voice telling me that he was never coming back again. I then realized that is what he was trying to tell me several days before. With a broken and heavy heart I told the class he was never coming back and we all needed to figure out what to do next.
As I walked toward the door with my belongings and tears in my eyes with a heavy heart someone said “Danielle, can you do something for us?” I replied, “NO.” We’ve all been here the same amount of time and there is nothing special about me. I’m not an instructor. I changed my mind and decided, this one time I would, well… that one time turned into the rest of my life. This is exactly how I got into fitness.
What do you like to do on the weekends?
I like to stay at home and hang with family! My life is schedule driven, so I prefer not to schedule things and do what I want to do, when I want to do it. Sundays are always church and also family days.
