What name do you like to go by?
Erin
How did you get into fitness?
In college, I was required to complete placement and anatomy courses for dancers. This introduced me to biomechanics. I became interested in how to improve classical dance movement, and injury prevention, which led me to delve into the fitness industry.
What do you like to do on the weekends?
Usually, a typical weekend for me involves visiting cool sites around SoCal. I like hanging out at Venice beach or going up PCH and getting lunch. Otherwise, if I’m not down to travel I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking steaks, and watching movies.
What inspires you?
Someone who has inspired the direction I’ve taken in life is one of my instructors. I appreciate the knowledge and appreciation he has of the body, and how he applies this information to improve his movement quality. I really look up to his teaching methods.
What’s your pre-workout routine or ritual?
I use the same stretch sequence that I developed after breaking my foot a couple of times. Reassuring these exercises improved the injury and continue to prevent it.
What has motivated you to become a trainer?
I believed the knowledge I had acquired over the years could be put to more use than I was able to give to a studio or club (gymnastics). Since I didn’t take the path in any academics that could possibly put me in a situation to truly improve the lifestyle of others, I looked into personal training.
How do you motivate others?
I motivate others by relating my past struggles with theirs, inspiring them to realize that they’re not alone.
What are your 5 favorite songs from your workout playlist?
Me & U – Cassie
Solo – Demi LovatoÂ
Stole The Show – Kygo
Slow Dancing in the Dark (remix) – Joji
Lost in Japan – Shawn Mendes
What “healthy” food do you hate?
Brussel sprouts
What are you most proud of?
I know a lot of people hate hearing about other people’s children, but I popped out a baby in 20 min and went back to work in 3 weeks.
Where can everyone find you?
On Instagram @elm199521 or @erin_cpt and Facebook @Erin MacClain
What are some of your goals?
I want to transition back into school, but I’m not sure what for. I’ve looked into some occupational therapy assistant schools. Also, I’d like to own a small business. I’d really like to develop a stretch studio.Â
Anything else that you would like us to know?
My favorite cheat meal is chicken nuggets.
